The seat post hardware for the Scout scooters consists of a long bolt (M8-1.25 x 50 mm long), and an M8-1.25 nut with a plastic insert to resist loosening, a curved metal washer and a plastic washer that is flat on one side and curved on the other side. Note, also that the holes on opposite sides of the black seat post connected to the scooter are of two different sizes.
To properly assemble the seat post:
1. Place the flat side of the plastic washer onto the bolt first.
2. While holding the chrome seat post extension at the desired height, insert the bolt/washer combination through the black seat post from the LARGER hole to the smaller hole. Rotate the black plastic washer so that it’s curved side follows the curve of the black post. This will allow the bolt to be completely seated.
3. Place the curved metal washer on the bolt that is now protruding from the other side of the seat post.
4. Put the nut on and tighten with wrench, pliers, etc.
