Applies to Drive Medical scooters only
The tiny circular cover that covers the charging port serves a limited purpose and they're easily broken.
While the cover can be replaced, the cover itself is not available separately. It's only available as part of the Charger Socket and Harness assembly.
Should a customer receive a new scooter with a broken cover and insist they want it replaced, the battery box should be replaced. For in-warranty situations, the manufacturer will provide a replacement battery box and recommend that the customer self-replace.
Battery boxes can be opened with a standard Philips-head screwdriver. The batteries can then be unplugged/unbolted (depending on battery pack) and move over to the new battery box. Then the cover is refastened with the screws.
For out of warranty repairs, the Charger Socket and Harness assembly can be ordered. Replacement is straightforward:
- Remove the top of the battery box by removing the 8 recessed philips head screws.
- Remove the batteries, either by unclipping them or unbolting them.
- From here you'll see the backside of the charging port and associated wiring.
- Remove the screw to allow the charging port cover to be removed
Reverse steps 1-4 to re-install and reassemble.
