This article pertains to Drive Medical Scout scooters only.
Scooter quits, then lights come back on by themselves or perhaps, turning the key off and then on, restarts the scooter
This is often caused by riding the scooter on excessively bumpy terrain like broken and uneven concrete. When the scooter hits a bump, the battery pack bounces up and out of its compartment, breaking the connection between the battery and the scooter. All the lights go out on the console and the scooter comes to a stop. When the battery falls back into its compartment, the scooter’s electronics reset and after a moment, power is restored. Occasionally, it may be required to turn the key from the “off” position” and then back to the “on” position to restore normal operation.
- The battery hold-down clamp must be loosened, turned around to press down on the battery pack and then tightened.
- Do not ride over broken and uneven terrain.
If you have verified that the clamp is in place, have not been riding over broken and uneven terrain, and still continue to have an issue with intermittent stops, please call or email Customer Service and we can assist you further.
