The "brains" of scooter is the controller. It's a small metal box on the scooter which is connected via wires to the motor, batteries and control console. On all transportable scooters, the controller is located beneath the foot shroud.
On the Scout series of scooters from Drive Medical, gaining access to the controller is easy and quick:
Here is what the controller and its wiring looks like:
(The small disc-shaped object with the hole in the middle in the lower right corner of the controller compartment is the scooter horn emitter.)
To troubleshoot the controller, you would want to make sure that all the connectors are firmly plugged in. To replace the controller:
- Draw a sketch of the controller and it's connections.
- Unplug all the connectors
- Remove the two screws circled in yellow.
- Lift the controller out
- Reverse these steps to reinstall a replacement controller including using the sketch, reconnect all the wires .
