- This article pertains to connecting the batteries and getting Pride Pursuit 2 scooters delivered after 12/30/24 only
- The Pursuit 2 has an additional wiring harness included with the scooter that must be connected in order for the Pursuit 2 to operate.
Introduction
The Pride Pursuit 2 scooter comes in a one battery and two battery configuration. The batteries do not come wired so this article explains how to get each of these configurations ready to ride. Additionally, the lithium ion batteries that come with the Pursuit 2 are delivered in a "sleep mode" and must be woken up before first time use. Pursuit 2 scooters whose batteries have not been connected per this article appear to be non-functional.
XLR Cables
In addition to the usual power cables with red/black ring connectors that connect the battery(s) to the scooter, the Pursuit comes with two additional cables:
- A cable with a 4 pin XLR connector at one end and a 5 pin XLR connector at the other end. This cable is required only when the Pursuit is configured with two batteries. If your Pursuit has only one battery, put this cable in a safe place in the event a second battery is added later.
- A cable with an XLR connector on one end and a plastic connector at the other end. This cable is required to wake the batteries up. You will be using this cable now.
Pursuit 2's with single battery configuration
WITH THE KEY REMOVED FROM THE SCOOTER, follow these instructions:
- Set aside for safekeeping, the XLR cable with the 4 pin connector on one end and 5 pin connector for future use should you elect to purchase a second battery. It will not be needed right now.
- Before placing the battery on the scooter or if the battery is already placed on the scooter, remove it.
- Note the small black master disconnect switch on the top, rear deck of the scooter that looks like this:
This wiring harness will be located above and slightly behind the left (as you stand behind the scooter looking at it) wheel. It is often zip tied to the chassis to protect it during shipping. That zip tie will need to be cut to free the harness. After freeing the wire and connector, route it into the battery area so that it can be connected to its mate. This connector can be tricky to locate but it is assuredly there. You must locate and use it.
4. Place the battery back on the scooter in the left well.
5. WITH THE KEY REMOVED FROM THE SCOOTER, Locate the battery lead cable with red/black ring connectors at one end and a plug-in connector at the other end. Using the supplied bolts, fasten the red connector to the + connector of the battery and the black connector of that same lead cable to the - connector on the same battery.
6. Plug the round XLR connector into either socket on the battery. The other socket will remain empty.
7. WITH THE KEY REMOVED FROM THE SCOOTER, connect the other end of the XLR cable into the white plastic connector that goes to the master disconnect switch.
8. WITH THE KEY STILL REMOVED FROM THE SCOOTER, plug the other end of the battery cable into either socket on the scooter. Here is what it should look like with everything connected:
9. WITH THE KEY STILL REMOVED FROM THE SCOOTER, plug the battery charger into the scooter. Wait 20 seconds and then plug the charger into the wall socket. The power light on the battery charger should illuminate and the charge indicator on the charger should glow red.
10. Once the battery is fully charged, the charge indicator on the charger will glow green. Disconnect the battery charger from the scooter.
11. You may now insert the key to power up the scooter. It is ready for use.

This connector can be tricky to locate but it is assuredly there. You must locate and use it.
3. Place both batteries onto the scooter.
4. WITH THE KEY REMOVED FROM THE SCOOTER, Locate the battery lead cables with red/black ring connectors at one end and a plug-in connector at the other end. Using the supplied bolts, fasten the red connector to the + connector of each battery and the black connector of that same lead cable to the - connector on the same battery.
5. Locate the XLR cable that has 4 pins at one end and 5 at the other end. Plug the four pin end into one of the sockets on one of the batteries that's labeled with a 4. It does not matter which you choose. Just make sure you match the plug pin count to the correct hole count on the battery.
6. Plug the remaining XLR cable with the white plastic connector into the remaining socket on the battery.
7. WITH THE KEY REMOVED FROM THE SCOOTER, connect the other end of the XLR cable into the white plastic connector that goes to the master disconnect switch.
8. Plug the battery power cables into their sockets on the scooter. It does not matter which plug goes into which socket.
