May I use my cell phone near or while operating my scooter?

Some scooter owner's manuals advise that you should not use a cell phone near or while operating the scooter. Since cell phones contain radio transmitters, there are many household and commercial devices including scooters that have warning labels on them advising that cell phones should not be used nearby. You may have seen warning labels on gas station pumps, hospital room equipment, heart pacemakers and other devices. We can all recall a time when it was forbidden to use cell phones on commercial aircraft. 

As in most instances, whether or not you follow these rules is a personal decision. It's definitely unwise to use your cell phone while you're OPERATING your scooter. as you can be distracted or lose control, injuring yourself or someone else.
