Occasionally, the rider of the Scout or Spitfire scooter may not have the strength or dexterity to move the seat swivel lever with their left hand. They may wish to have the lever on the right side. It is possible to move the lever to the other side of the seat although it will require some tools and mechanical know-how to do it.
Here's a picture of the seat swivel mechanism:
The tools required to make the change are as follows:
- Two 17 mm wrenches.
- Heat gun.
- 4 mm Allen wrench.
- Metal rod no more than 10 mm in diameter and at least 10 cm long.
The exact instructions with photos can be found by clicking here. The seat swivel lever is under spring tension and that tension must be maintained while moving the lever to the other side. If you attempt to make this change without the proper tools or not following the instructions, damage to the seat swivel tension mechanism will occur that would not be covered by the warranty.
