Pride Mobility scooters may generate flash code in a different kind of way from Drive Medical scooters.
Should a Pride Victory scooter have an operating issue, on power-up the scooter will first generate a long series of beeps to get the rider's attention. Then, it will generate the relevant code consisting of a set number of beeps. It will not repeat the sequence unless the operator turns the scooter off and turns it back on again.
As with most other scooters, the most common reason for a flash code error relates to the magnetic brake and as with many other models, that code is a often a '5'. It can usually be cleared by moving the drive/neutral lever to the drive position.
IF THAT DOESN"T CLEAR THE CODE
If moving the drive/neutral lever to the drive position does not resolve the 5 flash code and restore the scooter to operation, here are some things to know:
1. The connections between the front and back halves of a Pride scooter are not usually a source of trouble. Pride uses a very reliable pin and socket connector that look like this:
You can inspect them to see if a pin is bent or missing, but even that is unlikely.
2. With the key removed from the scooter, place the drive/neutral lever in the neutral position. Then manually roll the scooter forward and backward the length of the scooter. This will usually reset the a sensor inside of the magnetic brake and restore the scooter to proper operation.
